Chelsea Fans Shocked At What Happened Between Willian And Higuaín Before The Penalty

Gonzalo Higuaín might not have scored on his Chelsea debut, but he made a lasting impression on Blues fans.

The 31-year-old Argentine striker signed on a loan deal in the January transfer window, though he was unable to feature for his new club in their second leg EFL Cup victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

During Chelsea’s match against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup, the Blues were awarded a penalty after Sam Hutchinson brought down César Azpilicueta.

Talk about the perfect time for Higuaín to step up and score, right?

Nope.

Willian picked up the ball and took it over to the former Real Madrid and AC Milan star, offering him the chance to take it and open his account for Chelsea.

However, Higuaín declined the opportunity and the two warmly embraced.

Chelsea fans are seriously impressed with his humble attitude, especially as he turned down the chance to score at Stamford Bridge.

Of course, Willian slotted home from the spot kick and handed Maurizio Sarri’s men a 1-0 lead.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, who has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, doubled Chelsea’s lead in the second half.

The 30-year-old Brazilian winger would complete his brace in the second half, with the Blues sealing a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Former Chelsea and AC Milan player Ruud Gullit believes that Higuaín is not the right type of striker for the London club.

“Higuaín is an old-fashioned striker who needs crosses and, if he plays up front all the time, he will not see many balls there because of the way Eden Hazard and Willian play,” he told BBC Sport.

“Those two always come inside, and dribble or shoot, and try to do things themselves.

“So they don’t need a player up there who is a target man, because Chelsea don’t use one and, under [Maurizio] Sarri, they never do.

“Instead, they need a centre-forward who can play in midfield too, and be effective on the ball as well as be a finisher inside the box. Roberto Firmino, who comes so deep for Liverpool, is the perfect example.”

Will Higuaín be a success at Chelsea?
