Khabib Nurmagomedov Responds To His $500k Fine From UFC 229

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor were finally handed their punishments for their part in the fracars that kicked off following their fight at UFC 229. Now the Russian has responded to his much bigger fine.

UFC 229 was always going to be explosive with some absolutely brilliant fights and a main event between two rivals that had become so unbelievably heated in the preceding six months before the event.

The constant digs, teammates being squared up to and of course the attack on the bus had all led to a heated rivalry that was set to come to a head inside the octagon in Las Vegas.

In truth even though the fight was entertaining it was nothing compared to what was to come after McGregor had been forced to tap out in the fourth round.

Instead of the action being over once Khabib had retained his title he launched himself in the crowd and began beating on McGregor’s friend Dillon Danis, meanwhile one of the Russian’s team got in the octagon and started hitting the Notorious.

The pair, along with two of the Russian’s teammates, have now been punished and Khabib has ended up with a $500k fine, far more than McGregor’s $50k and he doesn’t seem happy:

The Eagle also retweeted a response saying that all that mattered was making McGregor tap out and posted a picture of himself sleeping with the caption ‘Wake me up, when it’s all over!’ on Instagram.

The 30 year old was also given a nine month suspension whereas his former opponent only got six months but the Russian’s ban can be reduced if he ‘cooperates in the filming and distributing of an anti-bullying PSA.’

Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, who was dragged into the pair’s rivalry by the Irishman’s smack talk, was clearly not too happy in the disparity in their fines either:

Khabib’s two teammates were both suspended for a year and it is thought that it’s unlikely he’ll fight until they are ready to return in October.
