Kylian Mbappe Is A Great Player On The Pitch And A Great Person Off It

If you want to find a perfect role model in the world of football then no look further than Kylian Mbappe, a man who is leading by example, both on and off the pitch.

Mbappe made headlines at the World Cup this summer for his gestures away from the field.

He donated his tournament earnings plus bonus’ to a charity that helps hospitalised children in sport. It was around $550,000.

The 20-year-old doesn’t feel he should earn money to represent his country, and thus gives his earnings away, an incredibly mature train of thought for a man who plays beyond his years on the pitch.

Mbappe further elaborated on why he decided to make the selfless gesture to disabled and sick children as part of an in-depth interview with TIME Magazine.

“I did not need to be paid. I was there to defend the colors of the country,” he told Vivienne Walt from TIME.

“Also, I earn enough money – a lot of money. So I think it is important to help those who are in need. A lot of people are suffering, a lot of people have diseases. For people like us, giving a helping hand to people is not a big thing.

“It doesn’t change my life, but it changes theirs. And if it can change theirs, it is a great pleasure. I gave the money to the charity where I am a sponsor [Mbappé sponsors the French charity Premiers de Cordée] because being handicapped is something difficult.

“Showing them that they can do sports like everyone it is something close to my heart.”

The 2017 Golden Boy award winner was entitled to £17,000 plus bonuses for every game he played, but he gave the money away.

Mbappe is a patron of the Premiers de Cordees association, a charity which looks to organise sports activities for children with disabilities, a great cause that’s close to his heart.

In addition to his actions this summer, the 20-year-old donated €30,000 to continue the search for Emiliano Sala and David Ibbotson.

He later donated a further €30,000 under the name Elle Lottin to help continue the search for the missing pilot.

Kylian Mbappe is not just a great player on the pitch, but he is a great, generous person off it.

Respect.
