After guiding Manchester United to a fifth consecutive away victory in all competitions – and one that took them into fifth place following Arsenal’s defeat later on Sunday – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Mike Phelan could have easily headed home for a nice celebratory roast dinner.
But the United interim boss and his assistant clearly live by the motto, ‘”no rest for the wicked”.
Just hours after beating Leicester through Marcus Rashford’s brilliant first-half goal – they were spotted on a scouting mission at the Groupama Stadium for Lyon’s visit of Ligue One leaders Paris Saint-Germain in the evening.
With United taking on the Parisians in the Champions League round of 16, starting with the first leg at Old Trafford next week, Solskjaer and Phelan rushed to the airport 20 minutes after the final whistle at the King Power Stadium and boarded a plane across the Channel.
It was a very impressive turnaround for the pair to get to the stadium in France from Leicester in four hours and cameras spotted them looking like Marv and Harry from Home Alone as they watched PSG’s first league defeat of the campaign from the stands.
Thomas Tuchel’s side went 1-0 up early on through former United man Angel Di Maria but goals from Moussa Dembele and Nabil Fekir ended PSG’s domestic unbeaten record this season and gave Solskjaer plenty of encouragement.
With Neymar, undoubtedly PSG’s talisman, sidelined for the upcoming European clash – coupled with United’s exceptional form under Solskjaer – the Red Devils will fancy their chances of progressing to the quarter finals.
