Trevor Francis has made a bizarre claim about Paul Pogba after suggesting that he is the type of player that won’t help his side with the opportunity to win trophies.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS, the 64-year-old ex-footballer was ruthless when it came to his criticism of the Manchester United ace.
“Pogba will never give you the opportunity of winning trophies or championships, because he is a luxury player,” he said.
“He’s not a Mourinho player.”
Well, this is a little bit awkward, isn’t it?
The 25-year-old Frenchman’s career has been successful at both club and international level.
When he played for Juventus from 2012 to 2016, the France international won Serie A four times, the Coppa Italia twice and the Supercoppa Italiana on two occasions.
Since his return to United in 2016, Pogba has won both the EFL Cup and Europa League during the 2016-17 campaign.
If any more proof is needed — like it really does — then one only needs to look at his exploits during last summer’s World Cup with France.
As expected, football fans are also baffled by what Francis had to say on Pogba and have taken to Twitter in droves to respond.
Oh, and even former United striker Andy
Cole responded to Francis’ comment.
One of Pogba’s brothers, Florentin, recently came out to suggest that the United midfielder could only improve at three clubs if he decided to leave Old Trafford.
Former United striker Zlatan Ibrahimović, on the other hand, has spoken about Pogba’s relationship with José Mourinho this season.
Where will United finish in the Premier League this season?
Let us know in the comments.
