Sergio Aguero went from the ridiculous to the sublime in the first half of Manchester City’s game against Chelsea and Pep Guardiola couldn’t believe his open goal miss.
There aren’t many better strikers in the world than Sergio Aguero. The Manchester City forward proved that with the team’s second goal in the opening 15 minutes, an absolute beauty curling in from outside the area.
That was after City had scored an opening goal inside the first five minutes of the game for the third Premier League game in their last four, having done the same against both Newcastle United and Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola’s side should have been 2-0 up sooner though. Bernardo Silva did brilliantly to lose several defenders inside the box and then crossed square for Aguero.
With Kepa out of the picture it looked certain that the club’s all time top goalscorer was going to tap in from two yards out and under no pressure, instead he somehow managed to knock it wide and Pep Guardiola couldn’t believe it:
However not long after and Aguero had added not just his beauty from long range but a second for him from short range after Ross Barkley headed a clearance back into danger for the former Atletico Madrid striker to pounce.
Before the half hour mark was in sight Ilkay Gundogan had added a fourth for the Premier League champions and Guardiola had rather forgotten about Aguero’s miss you feel.
